First article published + tileable rock textures

Hey everyone!

I've been busy with writing and school lately, and cleaning up the apartment and other essential things.

My first article on CJP is published, woohoo! It's a review of Roller Coaster Tycoon 3D for 3DS, and if you speak Dutch you can read it here. If you don't, this is the conclusion: it's a pretty bad game, I really prefer the ones on PC.

I'm currently playing Dead Space 3 for reviewing. I suck at shooters on consoles, so my boyfriend can barely stand watching me play. But I'm getting better (a bit)  :) This review will probably be more positive: even though I get scared by every enemy, I'm really enjoying the game. The feeling of adrenaline rushing through your body can be quite fun!

On the studying side: yesterday we had to deliver our two tileable textures, and sharing is caring, so...

Rocks on sand

Layered rocks

Again, they are not perfect, but everybody has to learn, no? ;) So these are done with the rocks I sculpted in Mudbox, and then put in 3ds Max, in such a way they are tileable. Some processing in Photoshop and tadaa! It's a lot of work and tweaking, but the results can be quite nice in my opinion.

If you would like to use these textures, I made a zip you can download here. (The picture shown above are previews.) This contains the diffuse, normal, specular and glossiness map for the two tileable textures, all .tga-files.

Terms of use:
  • Free to use, no need to ask for permission, but please give credit by linking back to my site/blog. Oh, and if you use them, you can always let me know! :) It's nice to know I can help people.
  • Do not claim as your own.
  • You can edit them, but if you share them, share alike. (So don't just edit these textures and then sell them.) And the credit would still be nice.
  • If you are not sure: leave a comment. I won't bite. ;)
Our next assignment is a rock wall, which is done with another workflow. Maybe I'll make a post of it. Anyway, I'll keep you updated! :)

Have a nice day!

Greets,
Marcia
