First look at Muna

Menhir circle
Hi!
Lately, I've been working on Muna, an interactive experience inspired by titles such as Journey, Proteus and Dear Esther. Today I'd like to give you a first look at this "game", so read on for more screenshots and info. Keep in mind that it is a work in progress! ;-)

What is Muna?
Muna is a short third-person exploration experience created in the free version of Unity. It is set in an icy environment with some references to Celtic culture. How and why did you get in this world? It's up to you to find out - or not. Muna is mainly about enjoying the atmosphere and the scenery.

Note: the gray box between the mountains will be a door that opens after you completed some interactions.
To do
As you can see the foundation is laid out, but the game still needs a lot of work. So, what will be added over the next couple of weeks?

  • New character
Obviously, the Unity engineer is a placeholder. The main character will be a girl clothed in a nice warm robe/cloak.
  • Gameplay scripting
The interactions with the world (mainly crystals) still have to be implemented.
  • Sound
I don't promise music, but sounds do so much for the atmosphere that I'll put them in!
  • More decorations/meshes/textures
    I'm on it ;)
  • Polishing camera and character code
Sometimes the camera still floats through meshes and the character gets stuck in the terrain. I should be able to fix these issues with some extra code.
  • Improved level and atmosphere
Getting the terrain, lighting, atmosphere just right requires a lot of iteration, so I'll have to but some more time in it.
  • Particle effects
They just make everything better ;)
Note: the cylinder will become a tree
Play it!
You can play the current build here. The game is normally played with a controller, but for the web build, the controls are WASD to move and the arrow keys to control the camera. That's all for now, enjoy! I hope you're curious to see what comes next. :)

Until next time!
Marcia
